Denmark



Denmark, as long the Kingdom of Denmark Kingdom of Denmark or form, Danish Danmark and Kongeriget Danmark, is a country in Northern Europe, and the smallest of scandinaves3 country. Denmark is a member of the European Union since 1973 Its capital is Copenhagen.

Bordered by the Baltic Sea and the North Sea, Denmark is located in northern Germany, southern Norway and southwest Sweden. Denmark consists of the peninsula of Jutland (Jylland) and 443 islands, of which 72 are inhabited. The most important are the island of Funen (Fyn) and Zealand (Sjælland). The island of Bornholm is located east of the rest of the countries in the Baltic Sea. Many islands are connected by bridges; the Øresund Bridge connects Zealand with the region of Skåne in Sweden.

The country is relatively flat (the highest points are Møllehøj, Yding Skovhøj and Ejer Bavnehøj, which are 170.86, 170.77, and 170.35 meters). The climate is temperate with mild summers and cool winters. The largest cities are Copenhagen (on the island of Zealand), Aarhus (on Jutland) and Odense on Funen.

Greenland, Danish Grønland ("green earth"), Kalaallit Nunaat in Greenland is an island in the Atlantic Ocean. While being geographically part of North America, the territory is legally attached to Europe as an autonomous territory of Denmark. Greenland enjoys political autonomy since 1994, greatly expanded after the vote on 25 November 2008 Its 56,500 residents have chosen in a referendum in 1982 (entered into force on 1 February 1985), not longer be part of the European Community and the ECSC which their territory belonged since 1 January 1973 following the referendum of 25 November 2008, Greenland has accessed June 21, 2009 with enhanced autonomy. Denmark gives him 32 skill areas, including those of the police and justice. Greenlandic is the official language. The capital of Greenland is Nuuk (or Godthåb in Danish). The city has 17,000 inhabitants and its population is mainly composed of Greenlanders (80%) and Denmark (14.5%).
